The nicest little surprise

Picking up a random book at the library doesn’t always work out—but sometimes straying from the project is exactly what I need.

I spotted The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and thought, book woman? Yep, sounds like my vibe. So I grabbed it.

And honestly? What a beautiful little surprise. Quietly powerful, and totally unexpected.

While I was reading, I kept wondering—were there actually people with blue skin? And did pack horse librarians really exist? Turns out, yep. It’s based on real history, which just made it even better.

If you’re into books, history, and the weird and wonderful ways people have lived—this one’s totally worth it.
